M.O.N.E.Y.

Some people.. Gotta have it.. That's right today we are talking money. Cash is king! The root of all evil. Racks, bandz, bwead (as Stevie J puts it), however, you choose to address it, money is a major focal point in many lives around the world. Money grants freedom to some while enslaving others. The rumor mill states that everybody has a price. What's yours? Do you have one? Basically if one strips down the question, I'm really asking how much would it take to throw away all your morals and all the things you believe in to do whatever it is that is asked of you regardless of how ridiculous it may be. Some may push that price into the hundreds of millions while others have dreams that put their number in the billions. Those astronomical number will continue to be a dream to many, but there have been a select few people who have attained wealth and reached those heights. Through business ventures, inheritance, or investments many people have made it to the money mountaintop. There is another select group of people who have etched their names into the wealth hall of fame purely by luck. That's right lotto studs! Those of us who have seen the magic balls pop up on the screen and have realized they have the winning ticket. These select group of individuals went from having an epiphany of how they would spend their lottery winnings to actually pulling up to Thanksgiving dinner in a brand new Ferrari! When these individuals woke up after passing out from shock, they probably began to compile a kiss my entire ass list. My boss who is a jerk at work, check! That asshole at the bank who always hassles me, check! And my muthaf****** landlord, check. You guys get the point. Life has just taken an unexpected turn and the fortunate ticket holder is set for life... Or at least they thought they were...

Jack Whittaker
I wish that we had torn the ticket up”
Jack Whittaker was already a millionaire when he won a $315 million in a lottery in West Virginia in 2002. The then-55-year-old West Virginia construction company president claimed he went broke about four years later and lost a daughter and a granddaughter to drug overdoses, which he blamed on the curse of the Powerball win. “My granddaughter is dead because of the money.” “You know, my wife had said she wished that she had torn the ticket up. Well, I wish that we had torn the ticket up, too.” Whittaker was also robbed of $545,000 sitting in his car while he was at a strip club eight months after winning the lottery. “I just don’t like Jack Whittaker. I don’t like the hard heart I’ve got,” he said. “I don’t like what I’ve become.” ~ ABC News

Abraham Shakespeare
I’d have been better off broke”
Abraham Shakespeare was murdered in 2009 after he won a $30 million lotto jackpot. The 47-year-old Florida man was shot twice in the chest and then buried under a slab of concrete in a backyard. DeeDee Moore, who authorities say befriended him after his lotto win, was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2012. His brother, Robert Brown said that Shakespeare always said he regretted winning the lottery. “I’d have been better off broke.’ He said that to me all the time,” Brown said. ~ ABC News

Sandra Hayes
These are people who you’ve loved deep down, and they’re turning into vampires trying to suck the life out of me”
Sandra Hayes won the Missouri lottery in 2006 and split a $224 million Powerball with a dozen co-workers. The St. Louis woman is now a retired social worker and wrote the book,
How Winning the Lottery Changed My Life. She said that she had to “adapt to this new life” which changed how she saw her closest family and friends. “I had to endure the greed and the need that people have, trying to get you to release your money to them,” she said in 2012. “That caused a lot of emotional pain. These are people who you’ve loved deep down, and they’re turning into vampires trying to suck the life out of me.”

As Abraham Shakespeare found out being set for life had a different meaning than he had originally imagined. Let's transition into the role of m.o.n.e.y in the everyday working individual's life. While many quoted their price to be in the 9 figure range, the reality is that it is nowhere near that amount. For most, it's whatever your current company is paying you. $10 an hour. $20 an hour. That's your price. A lot lower than you thought? For this amount 8 plus hours a day, for 5-6 days a week, year after year you have given up the option to pursue whatever your personal career goals were and dedicated your time to assisting someone else in living out there 9 figure dream. Tough pill to swallow and I'm no different, I was forced to swallow that same pill year after year until I had a revelation many years ago. I had a conversation and asked myself, what the f*** am I'm doing here? I work and work and work only to end up in the same place each and every year. This discovery allowed me to restructure my life and change the way I not only viewed m.o.n.e.y, but how I pursued it as well. This revelation is also what lead me to develop my personal acronym for m.o.n.e.y. I realized m.o.n.e.y gets the majority of working-class individuals to the same spot of having More Of Nothing Every Year! As we begin tax season, take a look at your W-2 and all the money you made the previous year and ask yourself, what do I have to show for the thousands of hours I gave up to my employer last year? Do my ends justify my means? Some of you may have gained some material items such as property or other material things. Some may have great memories from an awesome vacation. But what do you really have? What you really have is another year of doing the same thing you did last year dedicating thousands of hours of your life to another person's dream. Some may have goals of working even more hours than they did the previous year which is great if at the end of the year you will be able to liberate yourself and pursue your own goals and dreams. But unfortunately, the majority of people will just end up making a bit more income and realize they really earned a lot More Of Nothing Every Year!
