As I start many of my post, sit back and reflect for a second. Where are you in your life. I mean really look at your goals. Not the goals you have created since you have decided to settle in at that job you really don't want to be at right now. Those are those pacifier goals. Shit you suck on just to break up the monotony of working to help somebody else accomplish their dream 5 days a week. I mean your real goals. Like the shit you were on when you graduated. I'm sure you ran out that high school, or night school for those of us who had a little trouble attending the day classes, on the last day excited about accomplishing some career goal. Doctors, Lawyers, Cops, Robbers, Actors, Musicians and whatever else you guys are into. You wanted to be great at that time so what happened? How did you get in this Hell Hole you work in now? You got comfortable! That's how you got there! It's not all your fault, however. It's just one of the curses we experience coming from the middle class in America. It's ok. Don't Panic! I have a remedy for you. It's called" GET COMFORTABLE BEING UNCOMFORTABLE!" It's tough to execute, however, if you get the hang of it success is right around the corner instead of two blocks over LOL!

"So what is this formula and how does it work?" you ask. Now it's a bit intimidating in the beginning because it requires a ton of betting on yourself. After a few repetitions tho, you'll get used to it.  Trust me! So if you reflected as I asked earlier in this post, you should have an assessment of where you are in the pursuit of your career goals. Now that you know where you are, it's time to decide if that is where you want to be. Now if the answer is yes, congratulations and thanks for reading up to this point. I appreciate you donating your time to give us a page view for the blog. But you can stop reading now because you know how the rest of this blog goes. You are a fellow warrior and I commend your efforts as I know the struggle. If the answer is no, well you may want to stick around and see how this ends!

So you have realized that you are not where you want to be. You have evaluated how you got there and are quite angry with yourself for being in this situation. No worries. You aren't alone. I am fortunate to converse with a variety of people from different cultures, countries and careers. Everybody pretty much has the same shit going on. Don't let the media fool you. So, you want to make a change but you are comfortable. "Why is being comfortable bad?" you ask. Picture comfort in your world. For some of you it's snuggled up in your bed or on the couch. Some of you may picture a beach or some other luxury vacation. It's great to be relaxed isn't it. Here is the problem tho, YOU DON'T GET SHIT DONE WHEN YOU ARE COMFORTABLE! The last thing you are thinking about, in what ever fantasy you previously pictured, was accomplishing a task. So take that lesson and apply it to your career. You hate this job, but you know how to do every task that your job description requires. You know your supervisor's schedule which has enabled you to plan a daily nap into your work schedule. You not only know everybody's job you work with, but their business too. Right? You know too damn much! LOL. You are comfortable and in that comfort you have made one major decision indirectly that has sabotaged your whole plan. You have chosen to hold yourself back from progress because you are scared of change. Change is scary. I recently jumped from Galaxy to iPhone and that's like learning a new language!

So the first step in GET COMFORTABLE BEING UNCOMFORTABLE is Accountability. You have to find a mirror and look yourself in the eye and assure yourself that you will take more control of your career path instead of relying on the good old 9-5 you are currently in. Once you have accountability down and you are ready for the next step, here is your formula for success. You don't have to be a math wiz to get this, cause I'm sure not. My daughter showed me some math I have never seen before. I'm like when they discover this shit? So start with A+B=C. Alright, very straight forward formula. The key here is A+B=C isn't currently working out for you so you need to change the formula. In your true state of being comfortable, many of you will say I can do that and write B+A=C. Attempting to take the lazy way out, you rearrange the variables of your life in a different order and expect the solution to change. (I know it should be sum, but solution sounds better.) To provide a clear example, 5+3=8 & 3+5=8 are the same equation. None of the variables have changed, therefore the solution is the same. So if you want a different solution, you HAVE to change the variables in the equation. It gets a little tricky at this point which is why so many people choose to stay in that comfort zone. When you cancel out one of those variables, you don't always get to choose the variable that replaces it. You know you have an 8 in hand and generally you are betting on progress, a solution above that 8. Something like 5+5=10. You are ahead of the game at that point. But unfortunately you sometimes end up with 5-4=1. That's what you are really afraid of. Taking that loss. And it's not just taking that loss, it's you making the choice that caused that loss. If an external force creates that loss, you are generally o.k. with that because you have someone to point the finger at. Your job fires you. Your girlfriend/boyfriend breaks up with you. You are happy because you get to say YOU or THEY instead of saying I or Me. As I mentioned previously, change is tough. Betting on yourself is tougher. None of this shit is easy. And if it were easy, I wouldn't have been inspired to take the time out and write this blog to hopefully motivate your ass! GET COMFORTABLE BEING UNCOMFORTABLE! CHANGE THE VARIABLES IN YOUR EQUATION! WATCH HOW THE SOLUTIONS CHANGE THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE!
